WESTALL '66:
A SUBURBAN UFO MYSTERY

Director:
Rosie Jones

49 min/AUS/2010

*NSW FEST PREMIERE*
In 1966, in the Australian suburb of Westall, hundreds of students, teachers and local residents witnessed a UFO hover overhead for several minutes, land and take off again at incredible speed. Silenced by authorities at the time, and still angry about not being believed, they revisit the event as tenacious amateur sleuth Shane Ryan goes back to find an answer to the mystery. With an undercurrent of Cold War paranoia, and a burgeoning military alliance between Australia and America, their story has deep resonance in the current climate of national security cover-ups. It is both a riveting investigation into Australia's own "Roswell" and a powerful examination of belief, truth, imagination and memory.

The documentary's UFO investigator Shane Ryan will introduce the screening.

BONUS: This thought-provoking documentary is followed by a special presentation and Q&A with Australia's leading UFO researcher: Bill Chalker (author of The Oz Files). Visit Bill Chalker's official site at: www.theozfiles.com

You will never look at the Australian skies the same way again!
